The 安全的媒体处置 Service, using an approved data destruction process, is required of all electronic media containing confidential Level 1 or Level 2 information, 包括:

需求

• Create or update your list of all devices you will drop off
• Remove device from its computer, enclosure, cage, or caddy
• Place all the devices in a box
• Drop off devices at the Computer Center

1. Create or update your list of all the devices that require 安全的媒体处置. This list may be useful in an audit. 部门 are required to keep a list of all 他们的记录设备. Include the following information on your list:
   1. Manufacturer and serial number of device being shredded
   2. Tag, manufacturer and serial number of the computer the device came from (where applicable)
   3. Date 毁灭的 or delivery to IT
   4. Choose method 毁灭的: IT services can destroy your media or you can do it yourself using tools such as DBAN and KillDisk to securely remove the data
2. Remove the device from its computer, enclosure, cage or caddy, if shredding a hard 开车. The shredding service only accepts bare 开车s.
3. Place all the devices in a box. 注意:
   • We only accept bare hard 开车s, USB 开车s, magnetic tapes, floppy disks, SSDs, CDs, 手机和平板电脑
   • We will not accept hard 开车s that are still in their external enclosures or towers
4. Bring the box to the first floor lobby of the Computer Center and select 4-2345 or 4-2391. Our 工作人员 should be able to assist you any time M - F, 9 am - 3 pm.
